Great Week!
The more time I spend here the more time it seems like time flies! I
forgot my journal, so I can't remember everything but this week was
really good! After p-day last week we just tried to set up
meetings with people. Allen has a bad reputation with missionaries. A
lot of the ones in the past tended to hangout with investigators and
not teach them as well. So me and my companion have really been trying
to turn things around and be able to make friends with our
investigators as well as making sure we are teaching something every
time we visit.
It's weird here cause everyone doesn't like answering the door after
the sun goes down. Which is about 7 here right now. So one of our
goals is to make sure we have appointments from 7-9! It's a hard goal
because a lot of people bail and don't respond but nothing is
impossible. Matthew 19:26 "but with God all things are possible."
We went to go follow up with a lady named Amy, we started walking up
their driveway and we saw that her glass door was closed but the front
door was open. While we were walking up the dogs were barking loudly
and right before we knocked on the glass door her husband came outta
no where, picked up the dog, and slammed the door! Haha so we decided
to drop her for a while. But something good came outta it! Her neighbor
(not the mean old guy) was walking on the street and waved to me so I started
talking to him and soon elder Hasson came over and we taught him the restoration
and gave him a Book of Mormon! Now fast forward a week, last night, we
went to his house to see if he followed up with out invitation and he
wasn't there. But we gave our number to his brother, and when we were
planning last night he gave us a call and was like super worried for
us and wanted to give us food money. We explained that we were well
taken care of and then he invited us over to hangout with some of his
friends. We politely declined and we're gonna visit him tonight :)
Unfortunately my companion convinced me to revisit the jehovah
witness, Sloan. I'm not afraid to teach him but I know he just wants
kid from the ward who's leaving on a mission in 2 weeks. It ended up
being a really great visit! We taught them the restoration again and
told them the importance of the Book of Mormon, and talked about
prophets, and she told us that her grandpa really wanted her to join
the church before he died (but he died a couple years ago.) We told her
that her grandpa would still be so happy if she accepted to be
baptized and SHE DID!! She also said that she wanted her 8 year old
son to be baptized with her! So we set a date in January! I hope I
don't get transferred so I can be apart of their baptism!
Sorry for such the short email but I'm cut for time this week, but
just know that I love all of you, and in some way or another you've
influenced me in a great way! Love y'all!!!
