HOME SWEET HOME
This weeks been a good one!
So far I'm loving my new area, it's right on the board of east Texas,
where all the craziness happens haha. But it reminds me of Farmington
way back in the day before station park, and all the development. Its
a mix of country and city so I like it.
A little to know about the area, we don't have too many investigators
but who we do have are super solid! We have an investigator who's
getting baptized this Christina's eve, we're having a white Christmas!
Also we're planning at least 2 in January so that'll be fun. It's
great to see people wanting to come closer to their savior!
The coolest story that happened this week was Saturday we went a
blitzed Greenville (locals pronounce it Greenvull). We were visiting
potentials and then knocking the neighbors doors. We got to a door
with a huge pit bull locked up in the garage and we could hear some
partying and laughing in the house. It was like 3 pm. Anyway a drunk
guy answers the door and told us to wait a minute. He comes back a
second later with a Hispanic dude who said he wanted to talk with us.
He looked a bit rough but we agreed. We told him our purpose and what
we do. He then asked "so what do you believe happens when you die?"
That question and way he said it made me feel super uncomfortable and
I could tell elder Casper was too. We briefly told him then he
interrupted us and said "this is what I believe in" as he was reaching
in his jacket for something. Thankfully he didn't pull out a knife or
gun but instead it was a necklace with a skeleton in a robe with a
scythe. He then asked us to touch it, which we refused to do so which
made him mad. At this point we just wanted to get outta here so we
started to say bye but he wouldn't let us leave. He then proceeded to
curse elder Casper. Seriously. He told him he wouldn't be able to ever
had kids.. So we just were like okay we HAVE to go cause you could
totally feel a negative spirit about this guy. As we were leaving he
called out to me and ran towards me and said "don't talk behind my
back, she tells me everything you think! You'll end up like these
guys" he pointed to a couple tear drops tattooed next to his eye that
were filled in.
Later when we were reporting our days work to the Greenville elders we
told them of this experience. One of the elders who Spanish speaking
said the necklace was a Santa Muerte charm. Translates into Holy
Death. And the tear drop tattoos where how many people he's killed.
It was a crazy contact and hopefully we never see this guy again! The
lesson learned was to follow spiritual promptings, cause right before
we knocked the door we both felt a little weird about it. We gotta
pray and ask for him to help us recognize the still small voice. We
will be blessed as we follow these promptings & act on them!
Maybe not the most uplifting email, but we had a fun time Saturday!
Anyways hope y'all have a Merry Christmas! Stay safe and sound!
Love y'all
