Holy Cow
Howdy!
It's been an awesome week here in Paris and Hugo!
First and foremost I'm not being transferred! Elder Haddock is tho, so
sometime in the evening we'll be getting transfer calls to see where
he goes and who's filling his shoes here. I'm happy to stay honestly,
I like it out here in east Texas!
So the highlight of the week was probably Mary Phifer's baptism! If
you haven't seen her yet, I posted a picture of all of us on Facebook.
She had Elder Haddock baptize and confirm her, it was super spiritual.
Unfortunately not many members of the branch showed up to the baptism
.... But after all the drive from Hugo to Paris is almost 40
minutes. Plus there was a service project that was taking longer than
expected so a good number of people who said would come had to stay to
finish the service project. But Mary didn't seem to mind, she was just
happy to be baptized finally!
Another highlight was if any of you remember our good ol' pal
Larry, the guy making the inappropriate comments in elder quorum a
while back, we went and taught his wife and THREE of his friends. The
guy is a master member missionary I swear haha. We had a good lesson
and his wife said she'll think about being baptized soon, which is a
night and day difference compared to a month ago. Also we asked one of
Larry's friends, Alan, to be baptized and he accepted!
Also we went and taught David Jr in Clarksville. We had a good
lesson and read about baptism in Mosiah 18. We asked him how he felt
about baptism and said he felt like he was finally ready! So we set
another baptism date with him on the same day as Alan.
You could say we've had a lot of "success" but it's not us, it's
the Lord. One thing the Lord rarely shows us is his timetable and when
things are gonna happen. As a missionary you could be doing everything
absolutely right, being 1000% obedient, and everything else and you
could still not see someone baptized. And as a normal member you could
be reading your scriptures every day, going to church every week, so
on and so forth and you'll still experience trials and tribulation,
heart break and heartache and possibly even wayward children. The list
goes on and on. It's important though that at the end of the day we
just put our trust in the Lord and know that he is in control of
things. Know that as long as we stay faithful the Lord will provide!
Love you all, have a good week!
