On The Road Again
Hello Friends and Family!!!
It's been a pretty positive week up here in Durant!
First and foremost I got the dreaded transfer email last night...
The Lord has decided me to leave Durant, Ok and head about 35 minutes south to Sherman, Tx! I somewhat expected to be moved, i'm not too surprised about that but the really weird thing about it is I'm going to be companions with a kid named Elder Laris. We were already companions earlier this year in Rockwall!!!!!!
I've never heard of that happening here in the TDM. But whatever the reason, oh well!
The other fun thing about that is we don't have a car yet and it may take a couple days to get one. Annnd Sister's use to be in Sherman but they lived with a single sister. Which means as of right now we're homeless :) But the mission is fixin' to find us an apartment but we don't know how soon we'll be able to move in hahaha. oh joy.
Also another random thing last night our church building in Durant was broken into and the police are here right now investigating sooo this will probably be a short and sweet one.
I'll share with you a quick miracle;
We usually end up using facebook at the end of the night and so we were headed to find some Wi-Fi and there was a girl walking on the side of the road. So we pulled over and offered her a picture of Jesus. With a little hesitation at first she came over to the car but she eventually opened up to us and started telling us what she had been going through. Her name is Donniell and she calls herself a Pagan-Christian. She recently got out of a physical and emotionally abrusive relationship and she's looking to find more meaning and purpose in life. We happened to stop her on a reeeeally bad day. She admitted she didn't want the photo at first but inside she felt she needed to talk to us. We told her a little bit about the gospel and she left with a card and a Book of Mormon.
The very NEXT day we get a phone call from her telling us that we made her night and that she had been reading from the BOM. She told us how it filled the whole this abusive relationship had put in her. She felt peace, which was exactly what she needed at this time. She was beyond grateful to run paths and she promised to keep reading the Book of Mormon.
It's been about a week since that happened and she's finishing up 1 Nephi! She is extremely eager to learn more of the gospel and she even got her mom interested in it too. We were able to drop by yesterday after church to deliver her mom's book and follow up with Donniell to see if she had any questions.
This experience reminded me of a scripture in Doctrine & Covenants;
D&C 88:73 "Behold, I will hasten my work in its time."
I can't physically do anything to make people accept the gospel. But as a missionary i'm just supposed to be obedient and follow the spirit. The Lord will do things the way the Lord wants to do it. I'm just grateful to have the opportunity to be here and be the tool in the Lord's hand!
It's always a bummer being transferred especially when things start picking up real good in an area but I know that there are people the Lord is preparing in Sherman!
