It Was A Good Week :)
Like the subject line says, it was a pretty good week! The last 2 have been actually. I didn't have time to get a weekly email out last week so I'll just double up on what’s happened.
Elder Laris and I officially have 2 apartments now! One in Sherman, the other in Prosper, tx. its way convenient! the apartment in Prosper also has a suuuuper nice gym, so we’ve been waking up extra early to go to that.
One of the highlights this past week was we had our transferly zone conference! There was a lot discussed but probably my biggest take away was we need to be happy and excited when others are experiencing success even if we aren’t! That's probably one of the hardest things as a missionary to get, but regardless if some are having baptisms and we’re not right now it’s okay! No matter where the person is being introduced to the gospel doesn’t matter, what reallly matters is a child of God found the only true and living church on the face of the earth :) Soo be hyped over that!
Another highlight this week was we went to help our agnostic now Christian friend Sean build a shed he bought from Home Depot. It’s great to be able to help him. he works basically every day except Sunday so we’ve had some good bonding time with him doing service. After we made the foundation we had to get going but we asked to share a message with him, he agreed and we basically taught him about the apostasy, and Joseph Smith restoring the church. At the end of it all we invited him to be baptized! He said he’ll have to pray about it. We have high hopes this week when we return on Wednesday to follow up with how those prayers have been going! It's been awesome to see the change in him.
To leave y'all with some sort of spiritual thought 2 Nephi 28 has been on my mind for the past couple weeks. The biggest take-a-way for me are verses 24-27;
"24. Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!
25. Wo be unto him that crieth: All is well!
26. Yea, wo be unto him that hearkeneth unto the precepts of men, and denieth the power of God, and the gift of the Holy Ghost!
27. Yea, wo be unto him that saith: We have received, and we need no more!”
The whole purpose of this life is to gain knowledge and to grow. The second we stop that we are literally damning ourselves. That's why in the church we emphasize church attendance, and personal/family scripture study, etc. We should ALWAYS be learning! Never assume that you already know everything about a principle of the gospel. In conclusion verse 21 is freaking savage; “21. And others will [Satan] pacify, and lull them away into carnal security, that they will say: All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well--and thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.”
There is always work to be done in Zion. Don’t let your church/temple worship become casual. Because Satan really will “cheateth” your soul.
love you all so much, thank you for all the kind words and support! :D
