MY FINAL FULL WEEK
Hello friends and family!
WHERE ARE THE DAYS GOING?! Here’s the highlights from my week;
Monday:
We had exchanges with the Durant Elders. I went with a kid named E.Pearce. He’s from Layton Utah and is in my cousins ward! We did all we could to find a new investigator but didn’t have much luck. So we had the bright idea of writing a bunch of compliments on some sticky notes and left them on one of our investigators door. His name is Melchizedek...Yes, I'm serious. Why he’s not baptized yet, especially with a name like that, is beyond me...
Tuesday:
We went to help out Sean with his shed again. SORRY MOM BUT I AIN'T LEAVING TEXAS UNTIL THIS SHED GETS FINISHED!!! We made some huge progress with the 4 of us working on it. Last week Sean and sister Florcick bought a pug puppy and in remembrance of me they named him “Hyatt”! I'm honored.
Wednesday:
We decided to go back to Sean's again and work on the shed...finally got the walls up and now we’re starting to feel really accomplished. I feel like I talk about this shed a lot, haha. Anyways we had our usual meetings that evening and then I was thrown a surprise goodbye party! I love Sherman!
Thursday:
It was tough on Thursday cause I had my final Mission Leadership Council. Elder Anderson and I got to teach a doctrinal discussion. We taught on the atonement and how it motivates us to teach repentance & baptize converts! We feel we did a good job. Afterwords we got to start the exchanges with the Frisco district leader, Elder Hogg and his companion.
Friday:
FIRST DAY OF JUNE! Did our usual service at the frontier village place. We finished painting the signs and killed wasp nests around the village. That night we taught a lady named Bettye, she was a bible referral. She has a really close Mormon friend so she was open the restoration lesson we taught her. She told us it makes sense in her mind and that she wanted to experience church. So she’ll be comin next week!
Saturday:
We started out our day by doing some service for a part member family in Sherman. We unloaded an old truck full of old clothes and boxes. Later that day we taught a lady named Suzette. She’s had an interesting past. I won’t go too much into detail of the lesson we had but she was picking and choosing what commandments she wanted to follow and it was difficult to help her understand that we need to keep all of Gods commandments.
Sunday:
We made it down to Celina, Tx to go to church. It was fast and testimony meeting and there was a kid leaving on Monday to begin his mission. I was sitting in my seat and I realized that it would be the last time I’d get to bear my testimony in a sacrament meeting as a missionary. So I stood up and bore my testimony on my mission and how I’ve benefited from it. There was an area authority on the rostrum, so that was scary .
I realize this is longer than usual so in conclusion our mission president has asked us to study one of President Nelsons conference talks everyday.
In October 2005 he said “Conversion means “to turn with.” Conversion is a turning from the ways of the world to, and staying with, the ways of the Lord. Conversion includes repentance and obedience. Conversion brings a mighty change of heart. Thus, a true convert is “born again,” walking with a newness of life.”
A major lesson I’ve learned on my mission is how to recognize and turn away from the ways of the world. Satan is doing EVERYTHING he can to get us to follow him, even just a little bit. If I left to Hawaii from LAX and my plane was just 1 degree off course by the time it would have taken to get to Hawaii I’d be hundred of miles away from my destination. Satan does the same thing! But when we are truly converted we have that mighty change of heart the despises sin and embraces righteousness.
1 week to go. You already know I’ll give it everything I got. Love you all! Talk to you soon!
