Bless Their Hearts
This was an interesting first week back on our bikes, it was nice to
be able to talk to a lot of people!
So to catch y'allup; last week after my pday we had 2 other
missionaries come in and help blitz our area, basically we went on
splits and got twice the amount of work done for a day. The missionary
I was with literally talked with everyone, and I mean everyone. We
spent at least 8 hours talking to people. But things payed off!! A
lady came up behind me while I was talking to a guy at a gas station
(my companion was talking to another person too) and literally took my
arm and pulled me away from the person I was talking too! At first I
thought to myself "what the heck does this lady think she's doing" but
then she said that she had just moved to the area and was having a
really hard time and that whenever she's super sad she see's
missionaries. She also said "at this point it can't just be a
coincidence" so she gave me her number and she made sure I made sure
the information was correct! It was a miracle! Especially because
shortly after that we got kicked outta the gas station property and
aren't allowed to proselyte there anymore lol. We also got kicked
outta an apartment complex, go Texas!
On another note it's a lot harder working our Plano area since we have
to bike 3 miles just to get to the boarder of the ward so this week
were gonna focus a little more on that area since it sort of got
ignored this week, we bike at least 25-30 miles a day. And I thought
last year in Allen was bad. Nah this place I am now, has hills so
biking a pain, but can't be ungrateful!
People here are obviously pretty excited about trumps victory, you'd
be surprised how many people talk to us about politics, but we live on
the edge of Dallas and so far we haven't seen any crazy riots or
things of that sort like other places are experiencing.
On Saturday we had the cool opportunity to help make shoes for Uganda
at the church as service! We helped trace outlines of shoes on old
jeans. The poor kids over there walk everywhere with no shoes and they
get parasites and can reproduce and cause these terrible looking sores
that handicap the kids cause they can't walk on their feet. The only
way to fix it is to either wear shoes or use a sharp needle to kill
the parasite (worm) but the problem is they use the same needle on
multiple kids so some of them get hiv Aids. So the better solution is
to wear shoes. So anyways it was cool to help and be part of that!
That's all I have this week, I hope y'all stay safe and have a good week!
P.S: I challenge everyone reading this to make it a goal to visit the
Temple at least once this week, don't ever take advantage of having
them so close to us!
Love y'all!
