Hey, how are ya? :)
Man oh man, not again...
Another great week out here!
To keep this short and sweet we've had a pretty great week.
Time is flying by, not quite sure whether that be a good or a bad thing yet, but nonetheless time is moving haha.
Just learned that next transfer will be a short one, 5 weeks. Then the transfer after that will be a long one, 7 weeks. So if i get transferred pray its somewhere fun! Don't get me wrong I like being in Oklahoma! Next week will mark 7.5 months serving in the country part of the mission. no complaints!
So we had zone conference this week. A lot of it was focused on getting the rest of the zones familiar with the new smartphones we got and how to use them. We watched a lot of new "the district" episodes for those of y'all who know what they are. Basically Elder Bednar threw down and explained how we're the pioneers for this technology so figure out how the heck to use them! All i'll say is its nice having wifi everywhere for our ipads now haha, no more stealing from the starbucks! We've also been able to chat with people while out talking to people face to face, and just on and off throughout the day rather than only being able to message people when we had wifi. So its a blessing! we'll see what else we can do with them. One thing we've been trying to do is if we ever meet a spanish person we talk into google translate and it spits it back out in spanish. that way we can see if someones interested despite the language barrier. Just 1 of many other things we learned we can use the smartphones for!
We talked with President Dalton about our investigator susannah who has a hard time getting church off. We asked about confirmation on saturday right after her baptism but he thought about it for a bit and said he thinks it's best we wait until she can be confirmed in an actual sacrament meeting. we told susannah this, this past week and had to cancel her baptism this past saturday. She wasn't too happy and you could tell she was a little peeved. We figure this would happen so we planned the lesson acoodringly ahead of time. We read in Mosiah 21 about the People of Limhi. If you don't remember this story basically the people of Limhi were put into bondage by the Lamanites because they thought the people of Limhi kidnapped their daughters. So to free themselves the people of Limhi went to war against the Lamanites 3 times and got wrecked each time. Finally the people learn their lesson and go to God for help. God is kinda salty because of their pride so he eases the burden thats laid upon them from the Lamanites but he doesn't set them free quite yet. Eventually a guy named Ammon shows up and king Limhi and his people decide they want to be baptized. But Ammon is like, woah i'm not worthy, you'll have to wait. So that's what they do. They had to wait to be baptized until they met Alma! The people of Limhi had to wait until their circumstances were just right. Eventually they got what they wanted, freedom and baptism but they had to work and wait for it. Gods house is a house of order. We may not understand why certain policies are made, or why certain things are done the way they are but we just need faith to know that there is a reason behind everything that's done in the church. Whether we understand it or not, its always for our benefit. Susannah seemed pleased with this story, and we feel it answered her question as to why she has to wait. So now we're shooting for the end of November/ early December!
Lastly;
We met this guy named Mick. He's searched up wayyyy to much anti and has all these half truth's and funky fake doctrine that he found on the internet. We felt he had a least a little desire to get things right so we went back saturday night and sure enough it more or less turned into a bash...i'm not the biggest fan of bashing, it gets people no where. So we left kinda upset, and disappointed. because that's the kinda spirit bashing brings. anyways at this point we're on our way home and its 9pm. We see a couple walking on the side walk so we decide to slow the car down to offer them a card. the husband quickly agrees and the wife asked for her own card too. the husband then realized we were mormons and said "Hey im a mormon too!" turns out he was baptized in Missouri a couple years back. His wife has always had interest in learning about the church but they had never made the effort to going. He asked if we had a book of mormon to spare so we gave him it and he looked at his wife and said, "Honey, you've always talked about going to church, next week lets go to church! Also we're going to read this book, you can take the missionary discussions, and then we'll get you baptized." The wife's mouth dropped open but she smiled and agreed!
I've always had a testimony of talking with everyone even if you're driving and this only increased it. The miracle of this is if we hadn't felt like we should visit Mick again there was no way we would be in that part of town where we met this couple. We left his house and came across them at the perfect time. a minute or two early or late we would have missed them. So God's hand is in this work.
love you all, sorry for such a long email but it was a good week!
let me know if theres anything i can do for ya! Love y'all!
