The Final 2

We got transfer news. I’m staying in Sherman!!!! I wanted to stay here sooo bad so I’m excited to be here. If I were to move back to Texas, it’d be to somewhere like Sherman.
My new companion is Elder Waiwaiole (why-why-o-lay). He’s from Hawaii! And he’s probably gonna be my last companion, lol. Don’t really know the kid all too well but it should be a fun transfer!

I know I always say I’ll keep this brief but then write a novel. So no promises;

Tuesday was a great day. We went on exchanges with the Durant, Ok Elders. My old companion, E. Larson and I got to pair up. We had an awesome exchange, with the highlight of us being able to go to the Dallas Temple with a recent convert that we taught and baptized back in December, her names Susannah. I had never done Family history before and the morning of I had the bright idea of “well, right before we head to Dallas for the temple, lets go to the library and print off Susannah’s family names :D”. I told E. Larson and Susannah it shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes. Well it took double. Cause I have 0 family search skills. But by much divine help somehow I got her mom and her two grandmas names printed off. She went and did their work and afterward told us she felt her moms presence very strongly. So it was a good day.

Thursday we had a lesson with Stan and Joni Heineken. They have baptismal dates in April but they weren’t too sure about the word of wisdom. They both struggle with several thing therein. We invited them to keep praying for an answer that it is true. We went back on Saturday and Stan said, “I went to the Doctor yesterday. He told me that if I was going to stay healthy that I need to quit smoking, and give up caffeine...I took that as my answer!”. Ha, God answers prayers in mysterious ways! They’re looking forward to their baptism.

Friday night we got invited to our neighbors Bible study. I had gone the week before on exchanges but Elder Laris hadn’t so I told him he at least has to go once. We went and we studied about King David. Study went great and Elder Laris and I were able to create a parallel between King David and King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon. It was the funniest thing to see the looks on some peoples faces as we read from the Book of Mormon. I’m sure they’d heard nothing but bad about it from wherever but in the end they agreed with he scriptures we shared. In fact, the leader of the group asked us share with them our articles of faith. We went through them all and the group asked a lot of questions. We got to article 7 which talks about the gifts of the Holy Ghost. At this point in the conversation I didn’t know they were Pentecostals (who are VERY passionate about they gift of tongues, I thought they were non-denominational) so they wanted clarification on the gift of tongues and I told them we didn’t believe in talking gibberish, yelling, and screaming, etc. So I probably offended a few but oh well, at the end of the night we handed out 4 Book of Mormons :P

Sunday we spoke in Celina, Tx. I got asked to speak on the need for a restoration. Our very bible knowledgeable, Calvinist-Baptist, t.v star friend Jared drove the 50 minutes from Sherman to Celina to hear us speak. It was great because when you’re at the pulpit you cant get interrupted so Jared got to sit back and listen to Elder Laris and I preach about the apostasy and modern day prophets. We’ll see him later this week and follow up on how he felt. On Saturday we had actually gone over to his house to made some wood projects with him. We made stands for our BOM’s, Bibles, Pamphlets, etc. for when we set up at the college! He stained them and then gave them to us after church.  But it was nice that he came for the first time!
If you made it this far, congrats! I know these are longer but soooo much happens in Sherman, its the promised land of the mission right now.  I’m grateful for this church. For the priesthood to had been restored so that which is bound on earth will be bound in Heaven. The Gospel is so simple, and simply true. There is no other religion out there that can offer anything close to what we have. The restoration of the gospel is the greatest news since the resurrection of Jesus Christ. NEVER take that for granted

Love you all, have great weeks :)
Elder Hyatt
