Back At It Again In Durant
Hello family and friends :)
This has been a pretty interesting week for us here in Sherman. With a
lotta up and a lotta downs, but hey that’s the rollercoaster of life!
On Tuesday I was able to go on exchanges with my district leader,
Elder Pearce (who’s from Layton and is in my cousins ward haha). So I
got to go on a day exchange up in Durant. I miss that place more than
I thought I would 😠It was fun though being able to visit old
investigators and members who I got to know pretty well. The coolest
thing that happened tho happened at the end of the day on Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon we had an appointment but it turned out to be a no
go. So we were basically free the rest of the day. Which meant we’d
probably end up knocking doors and talking with people in the streets.
But we prayed that we’d be able to teach someone who God had been
preparing! Right before dinner we got a text from a girl who had
recently gotten home from her mission. She asked us if we were free to
teach her friend Tiffany that night! Elder Pearce and I got all
excited, ate dinner, and then raced over to this home to teach
Tiffany. The Elders had worked on and off with Tiffany for the past
couple weeks but she hadn’t progressed too much. She had a hard time
understanding what the Holy Ghost is and why she needed it. So we
taught to her needs and helped her understand what it means to be
cleansed from sin through baptism and then kept clean (sanctified) by
the Holy Ghost. You could definitely see the light bulb in her mind
turn on when we explained it this way! The spirit was strong and we
invited her to be baptized and she accepted a date in May!
That was probably the biggest miracle I saw this week.
Last week I mentioned that there was a boy named Isaac being baptized
that weekend. Well on Friday night we got the phone call that Isaac’s
mom was calling the baptism off. We talked to several friends of his
mom and they said that Satan had been working hard with her this past
week just throwing everything and anything at her overwhelming her.

To end on a happy/funny note we have a rule as a mission to be outta
the apartment from 10am to 9pm, only returning for lunches and
dinners. So whenever we have a companionship study or are making phone
calls or something its always done somewhere in public where people
can see us. So on Friday we had 30 minutes to spare before our dinner
appointment and we saw there was a President Eisenhower monument near
our dinners home. So we thought “oh, there are benches there. Let’s go
make calls.”. This monument is a huge bust of President Eisenhower and
I had never gotta a photo of it before so we took a photo of me and
the monument, sat down on the benches and then immediately a car
pulled up with 3 older people getting out. Elder Waiwaiole was on the
phone so one of the older gentleman proceeded to talk with me while
the other 2 older people took photos of the monument. The phone call
ended and Elder Waiwaiole offered to take a photo of the couple and
the monument and then talked with them. Meanwhile the old guy that I
was talking to was completely anti’ing me 😂 I could barely get a word
in and was laughing through most of it but eventually I stood up and
told the guy we had to get going. It was at that point in the
conversation when somehow E. Waiwaiole and I switched people we were
talking to and then I started to get anti’d by the other 2 old people.
We finally were able to get away from them and leave and I asked E.
Waiwaiole what they were anti’ing him with and he said that he hadn’t
been anti’d at all. He had a a peaceful conversation with all three of
them. For whatever reason I had been hit by all 3 of them 😂 This
isn’t the first time something like that has happened either, maybe
it’s the way I look or something but something about me must attract
the anti-Mormon outta people.
Hopefully this story made sense, I thought it was pretty funny..
