The Beginning of the End!
So like the subject line says, tomorrow starts the beginning of the end! π±
Tuesday is the start of MY FINAL TRANSFER! That’s means 6 weeks
left!!!!! What the heck is going on?!?!?! Lo-key freaking out.
So anyways here was my week;
On Tuesday I found myself on exchanges in Durant again. Did not expect
that to happen but it did haha. Anyways we had some really good
lessons with people that I was teaching last year there and we were
able to set 4 baptismal dates! Durant is lit π₯
Wednesday we did our usual service at our recent converts house. This
week we put up a fence for a garden! Idk why but I seem to be putting
up fences every week haha.
On Thursday we had MLC (mission leadership council). It’s by far my
favorite meeting as a missionary! The meeting usually lasts 6 hours
but this time they cut it to like 3. As we were leaving President
Dalton asked my companion and I since the meeting ended early if he
could come up to Sherman and work with us. My gut dropped but we told
him absolutely. We were a little freaked out cause we hadn’t planned
to do anything during that time cause we thought we would still be at
MLC. Worst part was it was the middle of the day. LITTLE TO NO work
happens between the hours of 1-4. But we prayed for a miracle and we
got one!
Our mini exchange with President Dalton started off on a awkward note.
We have a neighbor who wants to meet with us and told us to come by
anytime. So we figured we’d give him a shot with President. We knock
his door and he let us in. Oh boy, I’ll tell you what, this guy was
PLASTERED! I have never seen somebody so drunk! He was so drunk he was
seeing snakes all over his apartment π I had never seen him like
this. Of course it is my luck the same day my mission president wants
to work with us the first person we take him to is hammered. We left
his apartment and all chuckled at it tho.
The miracle of the exchange tho was a lady named Donna. Her daughter
was a bible referral but wasnt home. Donna let us in tho to speak with
her instead. She told us shes looking for a church and has been church
shopping all over the county for about 2 years now and has never felt
at home in any of the churches. We talked to her about us and how the
wards are like families. We gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her
to read from it and come to church. Then on Sunday she came with her
boyfriend!!! She seemed to like church!
On Friday we did our usual service at the Denison, Tx frontier village
(Aka: lagoons pioneer village). We’ve been teaching the lady who runs
the place, her names Charla. We followed up with her BOM reading and
she was all the way into Mosiah 15! She’s had the book for about 3
weeks. She asked us some interesting questions. Like if it was common
for people to convert to the Mormon faith, and what the process is
like. She tottalllllly thinkin about it ;) she told us if she were to
convert that it would have to be a family affair, we smiled and told
her by all means, thats fine with us :)
This is getting pretty lengthy so I’ll wrap it up.
To end on a spiritual note, as a mission we are studying the
Atonement. The word Atonement is a mormon word but what it encompasses
is Christs sufferings in Gethsemane, cruxifiction on the cross, and
resurrection 3 days later. No we all know that because of Christs
Atonement we can be cleansed from sin. But something that I have never
really understood about the Atonement can enable us! It can empower us
to do more than we could achieve ourselves. That what it means when
the scripture says “if they humble themselves before me, and have
faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.”
(Ether 12:27). Let the Atonement shape and change you! That’s what
this life is all about! :)
In conclusion I am staying in Sherman my last transfer! Elder
Waiwaiole is being transferred and I’m getting a kid named Alec
Anderson! I have no idea who he is or anything else about him but he’s
gonna be my last companion. This transfer will be awesome! :)
Love each of you!
