My Upside Down Week

Ha. Ha. Ha...
So last week I made the comment about how I worry too much about
baptisms and how I get anxious and worried about them until we're at
the service? Well that exact nightmare happened this week lol.
So to start out this crazy week we were in ward council and we
planned out the baptisms. Pedro was supposed to have his service at
1pm at the Paris building font and Derek was gonna have his at 3pm in
the Fort Townson Lake. Well all was fine and dandy until our branch
mission leader calls and tells us that it's $25 to rent out a spot at
the lake and since it was Easter weekend it would be packed! So we
changed Derek's baptism to 3pm at the Paris building fonts. Well early
into the week a prominent member in the Paris ward passed away and
they scheduled the funereal on Saturday and scheduled a luncheon
afterwords that would overlap the baptisms...So in the middle of the
week we had to figure out how to move the baptisms that would work for
everybody and it was sorta crazy but in the end the best option we had
was to combine the baptisms. So we made sure that was okay with Derek
and Pedro and everyone else and planned on that. Well all was well
until on Friday, the day before the baptism Derek sent us a text
basically telling us he wanted to cancel the baptism...the thing you
gotta know about Derek is that he knows soooo much about the gospel,
he's been investigating for nearly 4 years and all he does is work and
then study the scriptures. He says he prays for about 3 hours a day on
average... So we were extremely shocked that he had canceled despite
him being so prepared. So right then and there we said a prayer, but
in the Texas Dallas Mission we don't just say prayers, we call down
angels and miracles. So in this prayer we called down Angels and a
miracle to help us to reassure Derek he was ready. Heck we even
specifically called down Brigham Young to be with us to help us be
bold, lol no joke. Well it worked! We got to Derek's place and all he
needed was a little reassurance that he was ready. We left with a
commitment to see him the next day, and sure enough we did!
After that, everything was smooth sailing! We got to the font,
filled her up, and started the baptismal service on time! I also
received permission to "Facebook live" the baptismal service so thank
you to all who were able to watch it live with us! I'm gonna talk to
President Taylor and see if we can get that approved more often,
because it was super convenient for all those who wanted to watch but
weren't able to attend in person.
On Sunday Pedro and Derek were confirmed members of the church and
they went smoothly. We weren't able to go to Pedro's since Derek asked
that I do his confirmation. But we're both super proud of them,
they're off to do great things!
To wrap up this super long email we had an amazing zone conference
this week! It was so cool, basically for the first 2 hours of it
President Taylor wanted us to ask him questions about becoming a
member of the 70!!!! There were sooo many good questions asked and we
learned a lot about the whole process, it's pretty awesome. Something
I thought was pretty cool was once ordained they receive the keys to
seal people in the temples! My great grandpa use to be a temple sealer
so when I get married I plan on asking my grandpa if he's feeling up
to it, he's turning 100 this year I believe. But if he can't for some
reason then I think I'll ask President Taylor, he said he would love
to do anyone's sealing. He's taught me a lot and hopefully he'll teach
y'all something too here pretty soon. He told us he will either speak
in conference this coming October or next years April conference,
either way it'll be pretty soon!
One last cool thing about the general authorities is that they get
perpetual temple recommends signed by the first presidency lol,
thought that was pretty awesome.
This week was pretty crazy, lessons learned are patience and just
trusting in the lord. When we replaced our fear with faith Elder
Haddock and I were able to get everything worked out! So replace fear
with faith and see the miracles! And when you need too (especially
friends on missions) don't be afraid to call down Angels and miracles
in your prayers, you'll be amazed at what happens. The Angels are up
their eager to help us but we have to do our part and call them down.:)
I love all Y'all and hope and pray you have a great and safe week!💯

Elder Hyatt
