Back At It Again👟

So sorry about not emailing last week. I was beyond busy and didn't have time😁
But to give y'all the update I got transferred to back to Plano!!!
I was here a year ago in the Plano 9th Ward and the Carrollton 2nd
Ward. This time I'm covering Plano 5,7 & 10!!!! Yes, 3 freaking
wards!!!!! It's been interesting to learn to juggle 3 wards, but we're
learning.
So a little about my companion. His name is Elder Hinton and he's been
out for 14 months too. He's from Hurricane Utah, and he's a Spanish
Elder. So needless to say I've been picking up some Spanish hah.
The work here is pretty interesting, we're still learning how to plan
so that we work an equal amount of time in each Ward. But for the most
part we have some awesome prospects! We have a transfer goal of 3
baptisms! It's totally achievable.
2 stories:
Sooo I went on exchange this week with an Elder who's on his 2
transfer, so he's pretty new. He's an English elder but got put into a
Spanish branch. So he works with Spanish people all day and up until
our exchange had only taught 1 other lesson in English.
So we had a member pick us up after dinner to go out with us and he
surprised us with a person to teach! As he was leaving to pick us up
he was prompted to ask his neighbor if he'd be okay if we could come
teach him. The neighbor said yes and 30 minutes later we were in his
home teaching the restoration!
The lesson went pretty well and the new Elder did good for it being
his 2nd lesson taught in English!
The lesson concluded and the guy understood everything. Almost
everyone here is baptist and they don't believe works are necessary
for salvation. So whenever we read John 3:5 "Except a man be born of
water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
They immediately put fences up and harden their hearts. They also
believe that "once saved always saved"  whereas we believe we can lost
our salvation if we don't retain a remission of our sins. So both
those subjects got brought up in our lesson but we handled them
accordingly.
Second story, we had an awesome lesson with a member referral! She's a
senior in high school and has been dating a member for 3 years and has
finally decided to take the lessons. She wanted to take them incognito
that way she wouldn't have any outside influences. The lesson went
awesome and we had a recent convert there named Autumn who bore her
testimony a couple times.
Last thing!
So we weren't affected by Hurricane Harvey by any means. The only
thing it did was made the temperature PERFECT. Overcast with cool
weather and sometime light drizzle of rain every now and then. At the
end of August. People have said it's been the coolest summer in a long
long time. Other than that I guess the hurricane gave everyone a gas
scare. There were lines mile long nearly of people waiting for gas. By
Saturday almost every gas station was run dry! It was interesting
haha.
Anyways when things clear up the members here are gonna go down in
waves throughout the weeks to help relief efforts. I guess it's gonna
take a long time for things to get back to normal down there!
So hope y'all have a great week, thanks for all the support! Love y'all!
