Where do I start?

Sorry about not getting an email out last week...I guess my excuse is we had sooo many miracles these past 2 weeks that I wanted to see how it all panned out before I told the story. So here it is;

A while back Elder Laris and I were visiting members we didn’t know. We were in the ghetto of Sherman and knocked on the door of a way less active member. She let us in and we met her, and a couple named Kathy & Guy. The less active member was now a practicing wicken priestess so she wasnt very interested in coming back to church but her friend living with her, Kathy was very interested.

Long long story short we go back a few weeks later and Kathy and Guy were kicked out of that house and were living in a tent by an Arby’s. So we went by to go find them and eventually we did. They were in complete distress! They needed help so bad, they hadn’t eaten in days and were super dehydrated. All we had for them was some water and some slices of cheese and they were very grateful. We had to do a baptismal interview down in Frisco so we had to get going but we told them we would be back the next day to help them out some more. While the baptismal interview was happening I was talking with the Elders who taught the lady being interviewed and the member who was driving them about that night. I told them this whole crazy story about Guy and Kathy and the member, Brother Bond, said he felt impressed to help them out. He then started looking for hotels in Sherman that he could use some hotel points that he had accumulated over time going on business trips. We eventually found the Hampton inn that took his points and he booked them 2 nights. We went back to Sherman and told Kathy & Guy the news. They were beyond grateful. We loaded them up in our WML’s van and took them to the Hampton. The timing was perfect because the 2 nights they had booked were the coldest nights of the whole week. They were able to get a free breakfast and rest and watch TV during their stay.

Well the morning of their last day Kathy was begging to stay another night. She told the front desk she was too sick to get up and move so unbeknownst to us the hotel called Brother Bond and asked if he would be willing to book them 1 more night. He agreed but told them that, that was it, no more nights after that because he had used up his points.

We decided that they would just keep begging and asking for help so our next thought was “well we need to get them into a homeless shelter or help them get a job”. So we went to town doing both those. Problem is to get a job or to get into a homeless shelter they need I.D & they had all their identification stolen apparently so we went to the courthouse to figure all that out. We made a step by step what to do to get I.D and drove to the hotel their last morning to pick up all their stuff, drive it to their tent so they wouldn’t have to walk the mile and a half holding it, and drove back to walk with them back to their tent... So we spent a couple hours throughout the week working with these people trying to help them. Haven’t seen them since Wednesday but we did the absolute best we could. After that whole ordeal the Lord blessed us big time;

To keep this short, we received 4 Bible/Book of Mormon referrals each morning from Thursday-Saturday. Each of these 4 people are SOOOOO prepared by the Lord. 2 of them are moving closer to the church in Sherman so they wouldn’t have to drive as far. The other “fruit” of this homeless person service was our agnostic investigator named Sean had a complete 180 turn and knows there is a God! We had one of those lessons with him on Friday that the spirit was so strong you COULD NOT deny it!

There are way too many things happening here in Sherman Texas, Elder Laris and I are going to have to be extremely efficient at planning in order to not let anyone fall through the cracks! I love being a missionary, the gospel is true.

Last thing i’ll mention is we got rear-ended last week so we had to take the car into the body shop on Thursday. Which means we haven’t had a car in 4 days and probably wont get it back till Friday. So until then we’ll be riding on our lamberfeeties....(walking....). Don’t even care though, things will be alright :) love y'all, thank you so much for all love and support!!!
